Will it change my life?

If you come with an open and teachable mind, you’ll be able to add “tools” to your life as we look at the Bible and see that upgrading your life of faith is easier than you think. Most of us do not change our lives day by day; most of us have milestone events or experiences, and then a plateau or maturing season, and then we look forward to the next milestone.

There are seasons of refreshing and seasons of dryness—spiritual heat, when the soul is thirsty for something new, a “shower of blessing” or just a new discovery. It’s amazingly easy to reach a stage where the soul is cracked and tough unless it’s watered and cooled. . Sometimes you work hard, or try hard, or read more, or search deeper, and it simply doesn’t happen.

These messages provide the opportunity for you to have a milestone spiritually renewing experience. Some of our most significant experiences happen in half-hours: weddings, graduations, funerals, the last quarter of the game, phone calls, and visits. You really can have a significant spiritual experience during a message in our service.

The mere experience of inviting someone to join you in worship will actually elevate the level of your own spirit. That’s a simple spiritual principle we often forget. Part of the reason we experience dryness of the soul is that we don’t share.

Then, I would say that you invite your friend to come and sit with you to hear a message that will be very practical, occasionally humorous, from a pastor you enjoy hearing who delivers messages of about 20 minutes in a way that is not threatening, and that can be clearly understood.

If you have experienced a specific time of refreshing, you could refer to that and hope they could have the same. And it will be great to hear a message about spiritual heat in an air-conditioned church!
